I have a lot of trouble with lunarpages and I was looking for a new webhost.

I checked out dreamhosts site and was redirected to this page:
Code:
http://www.dreamhost.com/limited-time-sale-going-on-now.html

There it says that only today you can register and the hosting from DreamHost for 9,24 for a whole year. that is $110 off only for new customers. :yield:

I don't know if the domain name is included in that price but I just registered an account and I am waiting for approval.

+rep if you like this post

Sweet deal. Anyone signed up? I am tempted but not a big fan of Dreamhost.

They don't have cpanel or plesk, look at their demo. It's something all proprietary, but allows databases, emails, autoresponders, even mx record changes. Does anyone actually keep a host for a full year? haha, it does say it includes a domain name though, so for $10, you get a domain and free hosting for a year, that doesn't sound bad.

Columbus day is tomorrow, so maybe the code will work tomorrow.

Hm, may be useful to setup some low bandwith link wheel pages. Can't hurt if you can use a VCC to register...

In my experience, dreamhost will oversell like crazy most of the time, so be careful. Thanks a lot for bringing this up though!

I've initially used Dreamhost, and I've got to say, they are a pretty good web host if you don't consume a lot of resources. At one point you are going to need to change web hosts, but until your website grows, it is a good choice. Their customer service is the best. Great for newbies. $9.24 is pretty much a steal. You get both 1yr of a domain and 1yr of web hosting.

If you plan on using less than 10MB of bandwidth every month with them, stick with them because they will hold your hand til they cannot hold your site any longer. Just don't try anything blackhat. :P

Yes I registered that day. The homepage redirected me to the discount page.

I used the bonus code 777 and I still have 2 weeks trial and I'll have 1 years hosting for 9,2 as said above.

I got the same thing last year. It's a good offer, very aggressive. You get the domain for 1Y as well with them (worth 10USD).
Currently I am using about 30GB of diskspace and doing 1000GB+ of traffic / mo. They did not complain yet, but keep sending offers for their Private Server offer (which probably signals I am stretching their resources already).
In terms of quality, I think it all depends on the physical server you happen to be hosted on. Mine is a new box, not oversold yet, with "good" neighbors. The custom control panel is not bad, some of the features are above cPanel (even Plesk, imho).
Their helpdesk answered promptly on 3 out of 3 occasions.

Best feature - option to create several Linux users and assign domains/subdomains to them with console access. Great when you outsource work and want to keep things separated.

Like with any of the budget hosting providers, there is a lot of uncertainty when buying such cheap services. My advice is to try them cautiously, you might save money in the beginning.
