Does anyone have any insights regarding double dash domains,
    eg: what--ever.com

Any ideas how these would rank in search engines?

One theory is that dashes between words makes it easier for search engines to crawl your site name. Also, it allows you to choose a site name you just happened to want without dashes. Something tells me you won't get a unanimous vote on this one though.

I'm sure they rank fine i.e. just as well as any other site would do given the circumstances, but it's an enduser deal where you need to have it be recognizable and easily remembered.
