I know ha ha very funny, but this is a serious thread so get serious.

This is under my bathroom door, and it annoys me how it looks.

See that? Looks like crap. It just irks me a little bit every day... a little bit every day... and then when enough days go by I just have to do something about it. But what?

How would you make this look nice? Pleasant on the eyes?

Get tiles from the bathroom out, and put some waterproof wood floor that matches the one from the other room, or at least you will have the same level.

Yeah, why don't I tear down the entire building brick by brick and rebuild it to fix the problem? :D

I actually like the tiles from the bathroom. They look nice, they work nice.

There has to be a less radical solution...

A low profile door Mat might do the trick, preferably one with straight lines so it draws the eye away

I did get a door mat. But the door mat moves. And even if I set it to stay in place, I'm still gonna know what's under/behind there

get rug stickers that go under the mat to hold them in place. Over time You’ll forget it’s there , out of sight out of mind.

I put some blue tack under there, and it's holding remarkably well. It's sticking really well both on the floor tiles and the rug I have.

Now my pig is wearing a dress, great, but it's still a pig :( :p

This is kinda depressing. I'm trying to make everything perfect, but it's just not possible.

I can't even look for "a guy" to pay to fucking make this bearable to look at, because it's such a small job that no one would do it. Plus most people would probably think I'm crazy for being bothered by it in the first place.

Maybe I can find some sort of very thin metal, that's solid but also kinda flexible, and then slide it in from the side to cover that half of the sill where that foam is visible. It's still gonna look a bit crappy, but certainly better than how it looks now.

Screw you guys, I'm going to sleep...

So I lied, I didn't go to sleep. I bet you didn't know I could lie :D

So I got an idea which was sure to fail, but I figured fuck it, so I went out and got some metal strips. Like those strips you tie something with. Like this shit:

I got these because I didn't know where else to find thin metal that's bendable, but also solid.

I figured I'll give this a shot. Long shot at best:

And this is what I made happen:

You see I also put something on the right there to cover the hole. It's just some weird cardboard-ish thing I had laying around (I hoard crap a little bit, and sometimes it comes in handy :p ) so I chopped it up and cut it up and made it to fit there.

As you can see, it's looking much much better, yes?

Solution cost me about $1.20. But considering I only used 1 of the 5 metal strips, the solution really cost me $0.30. I love it :D

Okay and now this is done. I like this, this is nice. I can live with this. And finally life isn't so crappy anymore :D

I´m very sorry for you @Scorpion Ghost BUT, did you install that door or was it like that? I thought you bought a brand new apartment, tell the fckr that installed that door to change his trade .. I know know you wrote that we should not HAHA about it, but dude what a fckn mess, remove the whole thing and re-install the fckn door right. Most new apartment buildings in this part of Europe are done like that, basically scamming people at triple the price and poorly made. Probably the guy who put the door was awake, but the other person who put the concrete in the bathroom was drunk, because isn't leveled.

Yes, I saw that to. To bad people sell this kind of shit.

It's not a door issue man. It's a... floor issue. And even that I'm not sure if it's an issue. I think the floor is made to "tilt" a bit to the direction of the shower and drain hole, so if the bathroom ever gets flooded with water, the water will flow towards the drains.

I'm not sure.

And do I look like a guy that installs doors? hahaha :D

Godzilla is gonna live and breed on that gap you left for her.

Gap? What gap? It's perfect now :D

hahahaa probably :D

Okay so I slept, woke up, went to the bathroom, took a look at how things look now, and it's all good. I'm happy with what I did, and it will stay like that. Awesome :)

Yes, I know, but the tilt should not go all the way from the wall, if your unlucky, you will get mold in that door frame from the moist in the bathroom.

And do I look like a guy that installs doors? hahaha :D

Yes, you can be whatever you want, life is good .. =)

Fill it with coloured Silicon, or gypsum and then paint on top of it. Or buy a larger L shaped aluminum to cover it. You can also look for short mdf or wood skirting that would fit under the door.

Easiest seems to be filling it with with gypsum mortar. I would go with that.

I'll give you 7 grand for the entire place and you'll never have to worry about any floor imperfections the rest of your life as it pertains to that apartment.

On the other hand, you did what many of us do, found a way to make it right which is what successful IMers do.

You must add 2 zeroes to that for me to even look at your proposal. But really, by the time it's all said and done you're gonna have to increase that 7 there too, and of course throw in a free goat.

Yeah actually as I was trying to "hack" this the thought crossed my mind that this is the same shit like making money online. How often did I try to do something I was sure wouldn't work (like editing something on a website, or making some greasemonkey script), and then I tried it anyway, and then it worked... or I made it work by wiggling and jiggling and standing on my head :p
