Why must absolutely everything that is sold in the IM field end with a seven? Is there some scientific basis behind it or are you all just sheep?

It looks strange, I must agree. For all I know, 7 is believed to be a lucky number in some cultures and some pseudo-magic practices. Normally you'd probably expect to see 9 stacked up at the end, but hey, 7 bucks is always less than 9.

Interesting read. I actually didn't even know about that. I always thought to myself why can't they just bump it up one more cent i hate getting pennies back.

I can't speak for science but I can speak for myself. I'm sure there's something to it and hence prices such as 0.99, 1.99, 4.99, 7, etc... but IMO the wiki quote below is BS.

When I see £1.99 I know I'm spending £2. When I see £2.20 I reconsider any potential purchase more carefully. I am therefore more likely to buy that thing I want for £1.99 than I am for £2.20. Why? I'll leave that for you to figure out.

I think it's just the flavor of the day.

Remember when things were $1.99 or $1.99? Then it went to $1.95. Now, the fad is to price in whole numbers only - you see all the major retailers, including in Australia Marty, doing it.
Go to any Kmart or Bunnings, you'll see their popup price signs with $37, $12, $15 etc, rather than the old style pricing.

I'm sure there's a consulting company somewhere that billed them $2.2m to make that recommendation, and backed it with pages and pages of meaningless waffle.

It all has to do with the way people think about things. Such as the color orange increasing appetites. Or how people prefer getting third place over second place. Marketers just figured out that more sales are made with a number ending in seven.

It is an underground message stating that the offer being shown is from someone here at blackhatworld or WF. I thought this was obvious....

I know and understand pricing and all - just wondering how the trend of ending in a 7 in IM started. Because you don't see 7 as the number anywhere else, it's usually 9.

Should start a revolution and use a 6 instead for all your products/services - and then see if people start following suit :)

It has to do with how the price "looks" to the customer and how inexpensive the price "seems" when it ends with a "7". It has to do with psychology and convincing the customer that they're paying a good/cheap price. How it started though I don't know.

Would you rather pay $1.00 for an item or would you rather pay $0.97? Price #2 looks much more appealing and will make more sales compared to a $1.00 purchase price.

It was usually 9, now it's 7 for a 'real bargain'.

This is somewhat what I was trying to say earlier - people automatically make $1.99 into $2, even $1.98, so perhaps going to $1.97 is an attempt to break away from that

7 has to do a lot with our earth psychology, and numerous things have 7 on them, how many colors in rainbow, how many doors to hell. how many days in week...
in a way, it is that number that is in the back of our mind, for us it mean different thing, but if u ask a man to tell u what have number 6 in it for example or 8, they will always tell u the same, oh that number of 'some people' star, but 7 because there is so many of it, people will give u million different answer , it means something to all of us.
but yes as veyron said it looks more appealing to people.

and to the person with the first post ( sheepfucker boy)
    u are reported by me.
keep your nasty religion believes, or whatever the fuck is ur issue, to ur self, and for a member who was here for 3 year you should've known better
