Ive had the runaround the past few days trying to sort out some hosting after hostgator and/or paypal made life very difficult...

I set up with godaddy 2-3 days ago and they are the worst bunch ive ever dealt with....i know nameservers take a short time to go through the propogation period, but they told me 24 hours, then when it wasnt done yet they said something had happened and they would fix it, it was fixed after 36 hours....Once it was fixed and my dns were no longrer "pending" i installed wordpress as per their instructions...

No probs, easy peasy, said it would take up to an hour....4 hours later..still nothing...

I reckon ive wasted about £15 on phone calls trying to get this sorted out, in the end up i cancelled and got my 6 months back....

Phoned paypal and hostgator, got problem sorted out....back with hostgator...all is well...

    Moral of the story...

    Godaddy are shit at hosting...

More importantly...IF IT AINT BROKE DONT TRY TO FIX IT!!!

I started out with GoDaddy but after a couple of years I got fed up with their interface and their aggressive sales tactics. I moved over to HostGator because I wanted Cpanel and I have found them to to be very good and responsive to any problems I have had, which have been very few.

Hmm you know. Ive NEVER used any of these big company's for hosting.

Ive always used these small reseller guys. Unlimited everything. Always pay for a year. Its usually like £13 for 2 years with .com domain.

Well its nothing fancy, has a basic cpanel, but it gets the job done for small sites I want to make :)

Well they do host a ton of clients. So sometimes they've got to catch up with all of their work.

GoDaddy is pretty bad, just look at godaddysucks.com

And for the above member, I'd move hosts right about now.

It is true that GoDaddy's pricing is expensive and that their control panel sucks, but they are good for being reliable.

Other webhosts you will experience downtimes, slow loading speeds etc, but I havn't noticed this with GoDaddy, so thats the main reason why I use them

I've heard some horror stories about godaddy, but besides that its just too expensive for the average marketer.

I do the same as supermat007, use the smaller resellers that charge peanuts and offer unlimited accounts. I've been using this method for years and only once did I suffer a 3 day blackout, most of the time the service has been incredible and even got some great customer support - they set up cronjobs and deal with any small issues I have had.

if you run a big site godaddy is great. Hostmonster and hostgator and any of those budget hosts will kick you out quick. plus godaddy allows all sorts of sites they allow adult content. if you have a big site you can go with vps or dedicated.

Only problem i have with them is that their automatic systems suck donkey balls. They always fuck something up when you just register something new and i end up having to call them; shouldnt be like that. But once your set up you shouldnt have any further problems.
