I went out last night in the smart car my wife bought me awhile back and was rear ended at maybe 35mph and I guarantee the car is totaled because both rear wheels are now the same distance off the ground as my door windows. How can people sell these pos. I guess it's back to my SUV for me

BUT... were you injured or harmed? Smart cars passed all the safety tests. Think of them as disposables. ;)

BTW, I am never giving up my truck.

The good thing about the Smart Car is that it was designed with multiple uses in mind. When you get hit at highway speeds, there's no need to buy a casket for the occupants. Just drop the whole package into the group and then shovel some dirt on it.

well actualy its a good thing that the car crumbles.
the more stuff bends on the car, the lighter the blow will be for the people in it.

truck are actualy less safe then those cars, on impact all the enrgy is passed right through the chasis to the people in the car. causing more injuries.
the more energy is absorbed by the car the better. usualy the chasis is designed to crumble in specific places, moving energy away from the cockpit wich leads to a smaller chance being stuck after impact.

I like smart cars, but the 1000cc ones we have in europe arent good for driving around up hill or on high ways
