Hey everyone this is all over the news....watch out especially if you got kids

Federal officials want you to clean out your kitchen cabinets, and remove products with peanut butter in them.

The FDA says it appears that peanut butter sold in jars is safe. But, there's a long list of other products, mostly crackers and cookies, containing peanut butter that are making people across the country ill.
The peanut butter used in products like Keebler soft batch homestyle peanut butter cookies and Lofthouse peanut butter no-bake cookies is from a supplier in Blakely, Georgia called Peanut Corporation of America. The FDA is investigating that company for distributing products containing salmonella.

At least 470 people across the country have gotten sick and six deaths are being blamed on that company's peanut butter. Smillie's IGA in Springfield and several other grocery stores removed the recalled products from their shelves this weekend and today.

Doctors say symptoms of salmonella poisoning include: abdominal cramping, nausea, diarrhea. You should see a doctor if those symptoms lead to blood in your stool, high fever and dehydration.

Dr. Jess Lyon, Doctor at Cox Walnut Lawn's Urgent Care Center said, "Remain calm and take it all in stride. Not everything that causes abdominal pain and cramping is salmonella. We won't even treat it until its severe. Most people who are healthy will clear it within 14 days themselves."

Dr. Lyon adds, just to be safe, he's going to clear his cabinets of the recalled foods that contain peanut butter.

By the way, the cookies the local Girl Scout troops are selling do not contain peanut butter from Peanut Corporation of America. Their peanut butter comes from Hampton Farms. It was recently audited by the FDA, and no signs of salmonella were found.

Someone please enlighten me, haven't people been eating these same recalled items for like forever, but why now does it produce illness, is it something with time or what? I just don't understand. I'm quite sure nature doesn't wait on man to find illnesses for it to produce it.

Peanut butter aside, the stuff they serve here on my college campus is as close to poison as you can get while still being legal...

Yech...everyone gets intestinal problems after breaks when school starts back up.
