    Hello BHW Members,

Google has been continuously working on its procedures in order to stop the thin websites or the low quality ones. Like the Google panda last year this year it has been Google penguin, these are all nothing but different names for Google algorithms. They all exist to provide good quality sites into the top rankings of search engines. This is a whole circle running out since 2011. Google producing new algorithms updates to eliminate the low quality sites, and those low quality sites coming back again with brand new techniques to defeat Google algorithms, and then again, Google producing new algorithm updates. We must understand the impact of link relevancy and text diversity in accordance with recent algorithms. These impacts of link relevancy and text diversity would do nothing but qualify you as a good quality site. These algorithm updates mainly affect those sites that are trying loopholes to avoid the hard work and get to the top ranks. These techniques would work for the time being and you can achieve the high rank but if you think Google is sleeping, you probably have lost it. Because eventually Google will detect this out, then you are going to face the music.

What Google algorithms actually try is give fair ranks to all of the sites, use natural anchor texts. Your anchor must be about 60% or below. Above this percentage is going to counted as aggressive anchor texts and this is obviously going to hit by Google penguin. When it comes to Google your links, anchor texts and content they all must qualify three categories,

     Relevancy
     Quality

If you qualify these aspects and go through reasonable tactics, you will not be facing continuous hits by the Google algorithms. Your site would be rocking on the tops and Yes! That is very possible. Links with the same niche must be your focus, Google algorithms are constantly in search of link signals that are too easy to manipulate whereas the related niche links are much harder to handle. Once in a while, (make sure while must not extend a month) evaluate your links and eliminate all of the spammy, unnatural links that may cause your site to get low ranking. Now the last but not least check and recheck your content and make yourself satisfied that your content is totally relevant and qualitative. If you have doubts, go for copyscape checking methods. Once you are done with checking your material now make sure other have not copied your material if you find any website copying your material, immediately report that site and make your content unique and qualitative. It is easy to jump through the loophole but what is hard is to stick there for a long time. Jumping may result in instant ranking but it can never result you in constantly in that ranking, eventually you will fall off.

    Thanks

I`ll never understand what means '' good quality '' or '' low quality '' when we speak about google search engine :) . Serps was and will be forever full of spammy sites . Why ? simple answer is if peoples will see any kind of profit made from spamming search engines they will continue to do whatever is necessary to pursue their interests . Google or any other search engine will be never able to filter '' spam '' from internet ( and the big companies who pay commision on their sales - BECAUSE of all this drama will never try to stop those peoples to spam ) . So ... first of all this terms '' good & poor quality sites '' are simply subjective terms to assume any newbie with internet connection and a laptop will bite it . There are two main major ecomerce sites ( amazon and egay ) . One single major payment processing ( gaypal ) . One single major search engine ( G. ) . All others have loooong way to try to compete with them .

    Things are like this :
take any damn word/combination of words and try to query in G. Chances are to get '' something in return '' . Chances to see from google '' we didn't find nothing about '' x '' it's pretty slim . I don't say it's don't exist ! it's just slim !

None never ever will bother to build any damn crappy site without any kind of reason . I mean there will be no point at all . What google try since ages to bring to peoples most appropriate results based on their search . How they do it ? simply crawling billions of pages / sites / documents and so on ... what means this ? means if you write anything any damn crap on internet most probably google robots will find and will '' index '' that crap right ? Now think about you are writing about '' yellow dildos '' , or make a video , or maybe an picture album and so on ... I`m asking now ... how can a robot will be able to tell your article / picture / video about yellow dildos it's better or worst than mine ? ( assuming we both made same crappy shiet ) ... since basically search engine exactly like this works filtering informations online and classifying them . So ... this damn crap with '' good / poor quality sites '' it's just a bollox '' sold '' by peoples working at G. just to try to keep peoples to produce '' unique '' content ( witch btw is just a freaking myth anyway ) . If never will be sold online or anyone ever will buy an yellow dildo do we have any freakin reason to build a site for it ?:)

Thank you for sharing this information. I concur; trying to outwit Google is not a suitable long term strategy.

The only thing Google should be deciding via its algo changes is the relevancy of search results. The actual quality of the sites should be determined by the VISITORS themselves, as determined by things like time on site, word of mouth, re-visits, social reputation, and so forth. If it wants to be a directory, perhaps in that case, yes, it is fair to editorialize about web sites and content, but not as a mere search engine. Google has NO business preemptively dictating "quality" of sites to a market that should inductively decide that for themselves.

That's how like communism looks good on paper, but will never work out in practice because of the greed of those that run the show. In an ideal world, that is how it SHOULD work, just like we should have direct elections, and no electoral college.

Just won't happen that way in the real world, though, $$ rules all

Whether we agree to it or not but we have to understand that these terms (good and bad quality sites) have a good impression on the internet world. However, SERP's have not been able to stop those spammy sites but they have been a great deal successful in eliminating a huge number of spammy sites. The simple fact is they are going to find one way or another and separate the good quality sites from the bad ones and this is something we have been watching in the days passing by but we can do nothing about it. Agree to it or not but every person out there has tried to improve their site, or just read those Google penguin and panda algorithms thoroughly at least for once so they can make sure their websites won't be the next to be brought down by SERP. Moreover, if we notice carefully this has actually been the motive of bringing up all these algorithms, so we can improve our sites and make them worth the top ranking sites.
Even if good quality and bad quality sites are just words created by people working at Google Company, they have a huge impact in the eyes of the public using the internet world. Now when we come to the methods that Google is applying to filter, it's pretty difficult to say how it works and how are they able to keep a track of each single thing but folks believe it or not they have been doing this, and they are freaking experts in what they do. Don't you see after penguin and panda algorithms came in to the internet world, a whole set of spammy sites that had to face the downfall? What do you think are the reasons these sites had to face downfall?
Of course, Google is freaking good at filtering and whatever we wish to search, we are expected to get a useful reply out of it. Furthermore, the useful replies that Google provides us, these replies are the good quality sites my friends!

I hope I cleared my point.

    Thanks

the concept of "quality" is objective. There is no such thing as a serps algo that can determine quality. Real people making real decisions can determine quality. This why there will always be spammy site.

We do not deny the fact that the spammy sites are totally going to vanish away, but their ratio with compared to the previous times has declined to a good number. Moreover, we all know what the reason behind it is. People have started to use new techniques that can improve their websites and save them from SERPs. Quality tends to when the visitors get satisfied and get what they wished. Obviously when Google can introduce such algorithms, they will not be dumb enough to ignore the factor ‘Quality' for a very long time. If not now so after a long time but they do catch the low quality sites.

    Thanks

I agree with you in part, but Keyz is right Google can not determine quality. Unless Googlebot gets human intelligence it's not going to happen.

Unique content, and quality content are two different things. Google can only determine uniqueness, not quality. When it comes to "quality" Google can only use clues to determine the quality of the content. I.e. bounce rate, returning visitors.

When it comes to overall site quality, I think they look for how robust the site is in articles, use of images, video, is there a phone number/address listed?, contact page, terms, etc... Site quality is something very different than content quality.

A site can be "quality" in the eyes of Googlebot and still have the spammiest content in the world as long as it passes the filters. Only under human review can this be changed.

    *sigh*

    Not another one of those

Build quality this and quality that... use these super secret tactics... 301 your penalized site to Jupiter, then Mars and then only do you 301 it to your new site, etc... you get the idea..

With this line of thinking, you might as well get yourself a pair of knee pads cause when Cutts drops his next update on twitter, I'm sure you'll be the first in line to receive all his glory.

While in the big picture I actually I agree with every point you make, for me personally I like to keep things as simple as possible.

The way I see it is if a page is good enough to be in Google's index, then its good enough for a backlink.

Relevancy does help more than it used to, but 'quality' ? Not so much :p

But that all depends on how you define quality - in SEO terms quality just means uniqueish

Well with this Google panda and penguin combat, we are avoiding a very important factor and that is the ‘Reader'.

Why do we make our sites on the very first place? For the awareness of our readers isn't that true.

Therefore, it is a very simple and straight fact, if our content is not relevant and qualitative according to their expected levels we lose our readers.

That is the simple theory, you provide your readers with a good point of view, and they bring you in their top list.

This is not about the updates and algorithms, this is pure business where you have to give a good in fact awesome product to get your desired response, and top those lists, no shortcuts applied.

These shortcuts may give us an ordinary success but ask yourself, will that success last for a long time?
