    Hi guys,

I'm a University student and while I still had classes I was telling myself that I would go right into my offline SEO business idea. However, it seems that I am stuck.

About 2 months ago I bought a domain that was like this,

    www.nicheincity.com

It is currently on the first page of google for the keyword "niche in city" and on second page for "niche city". I want it to rank for more keywords, but those two probably generate most traffic.

I am on page one, but in position 4 or 5. I want to get to at least number 1 or 2, though. The first one is just a general site that is called,

    www.niche.com/niche/city

So it seems like it is some directory, but it is really crappy looking. The second site is an actual business in the same niche, not just a directory. I would ideally like to beat both.

On top of that, I would also like to rank high on the local listings. I have read some of the guides out there, however - now that Google is placing SEO as a factor of how high your rank on your local listings, I think the eBooks that I have read may be a little 'dated' now.

Besides, I would somehow hope I could rank in the local listings and SHOW it to my client first. But it seems that I first need to choose my client, and then rank it high as there is no way to then later change the address without losing the ranking (or at least from what I know)

So, I am not asking for you to give me all of your personal tips here. I am asking if you could kindly point me in the right direction in terms of:

-> What types of links should I be looking at? I have SB and I can do heavy linking with that, but thus far I have been careful as I do not want to go over board.

Should I be looking more at forum profile links, blog links, web 2.0 links, article links?

I have actually tried to make a hand full of web 2.0 properties, linking to my main money site, and then building a crap ton of links to those 2.0 properties, I did this over the course of a month with the dripfeedblasts service, and I did not see any movement in SERP's of the main money site (and about 30K links later)

Can anyone share what is effective? The site is a 'static' site and is not set up for a blog, so I cannot really create much new content on the site it self.

Also, any good resources for me to look at for local listing domination? Perhaps something new that might relate to the recent changes?

If you have read this entire post, thank you.

Hi there guys, thanks for your replies.

Csman, I used dripfeedblasts service for one month, and I believe it ended about a week or so ago. I had it set to build those links to my web 2.0 properies, like digg.com and so on and all of those properties and in text links to my main money site.

At one stage I actually saw my web 2.0 properties on the first page of google for that keyword!! But then they got owned and were no longer able to be found... and they disappeared from first page. Maybe google penalised those sites, and thus did not reward me any link juice from them to my main site?

d4lt0s, I did not check my competitors backlinks yet and I will do so shortly. But I was thinking regardless of the back links, the first one is a very general niche site, so for a very small specific keyword, I Should technically be able to beat it.

I definitely want to diversify my links, and I realise SB is only one type - from experience, can anyone recommend any other software that I can read into why might help me in getting a more diverse set of back links?

I think articles might be good, as I can submit them to article directories and then back links to those articles, as well as directly back link to my main money site. In that sense, I would have blog back links, and article back links. On top of that, I can make some web 2.0 sites and back link to those, too.

Is there much more I should look at?

Thank you, sounds good. Might have to give Senuke a good read. Saw some people were not too happy with it (but I guess that is with any software) so maybe I should give it a go!

    SENuke is phenomenal.

    Here's a fast checklist

    2.0
    video
    profile
    blog
    article
    press release

All good link sources and all need to be done in volume. Effort should be put into indexing your links- do you know how many are actually counted for your site? Check site explorer or market samurai to get an idea.

Have you checked on your 2.0s lately? It's at least if not more likely that the 2.0 network banned your account as it is that google penalized the sites.
