Hey guys, does anyone have any good ways to dominate local business results. The thing is, I am in competition with a local company who hate me - they constantly send fake enquiries to my company and waste my time.

I leave them alone, but now for the first time ever I am killing them in SERPS. They have fallen from page 1 to 4 and I have moved up to page 2. The only area where we are close is the local business results on the first page (the google maps thing)

I am number two, and they are number three. These guys have ripped a lot of customers off - who have now become my client, but they are waging a full out war on me and my online business.

Basically, they post fake reviews, make up dubious links, make fake enquireis, constantly stumble my site and put it under the wrong catagories. I have sat back and got on with business, for the sake of the four of us that need to make a living from this business- but now they are going down they are getting nasty.

What should I do - should I ignore them - is there a way to get to the top of Google local results - this way I will grow faster than them and get the lions share of local business. Or should I fight more dirty.

These guys aren't too bright - they use the same few proxies and I have a few cookies on their system. The identical cookies, user agent and proxie strings and OS let me know that these guys are the one visiting my sites and atttacking my websites and online business!

Please help guys ! Any advice really appreciated !

    1. DDOS attack them
    2. email spoof em
    3. go to *****.org /b/ random and post their URL claiming that they are doing something (are scientologists or something that ***** hates).. + give them the phone number
    4. watch ***** retaliate on them while you laugh.

.... or just don't do anything illegal and/or something blackhat

    Do it for the LULZ.

As far as FBI, they will only get involved with businesses that have lost $20,000 or more. I think that's the number.

I didn't do anything to cause them to fall in SERPS. I have just focussed on increasing my own ranking by including lots of related keywords, rather than keyword spamming the search terms on every page. My theory is that Google is well aware of related terms in my niche and therefore my pages seem of better quality.

These guys ruined a business of mine by repeatedly hacking the robots file of my site to stop it being indexed. They have also put hidden links to their website on rivals websites.I am now much more aware and security concious - but I have done nothing to them to cause them to fall so far.

The only area there is competition is on the maps thing / local business. I just need to figure out how that works.

My advise to you is do not do anything illegal like DDOS attack etc. If you have some proofs of ur competitors using evil techniques, you can for sure email to google with all evidences. Write them like a decent businessman and ask them to ban the con people. Also go to blogs of Matt Cutts etc and try to PM them with evidences. With a bit of luck your competitor site may be banned altogether from google.

    ghands,
I don't care what anyone on this forum says about playing nicely, make a detailed list of all of the Google quality infractions on their site, infractions that link to their site, and anything else that you can think of. Go to Google's Webmaster Tools and click the "Report spam in our index" link on the right hand side. It takes only a few minutes to do and could have them off your back in terms of SERPs for a long time.

After you do that, just continue to do whatever you've been doing to build your business. These guys sound like morons, so let them play their games. If it ever escalates beyond the internet, call your local police department. Some nerds take this internet shit far too seriously and need to be reminded of their place and position in this world of ours.

    Hey Oldenstyle,

They like to send fake emails and post abusive comments on on of my blogs - they think they are anonymous, but they forget to disable cookies, and I cookied them before they started using a really poor proxy. I have kept a record of all of this..

    Thanks for the advice !

Gather hard evidence, actually you already have some of that as you said. Hire security specialist (or do it yourself) to track them continuously and consolidate logs what they are doing to you. Next, report them to FTC, Google, other search engines, their ISP, directories where they posting $hit about you, give them massive fight back! And finally get legal action against them.

    Good luck!

aren't the maps in alphabetical order? so you'd have to make up a few more business names which all lead back to you.

you can contact their host for spamming and copyright infringement which will shut them down no questions asked.

next you can bury them with article submission, forum posts, video posts etc with positive content about YOU and negative content about them (separately of course)

I thought it was alphabetical, but it isn't - they would be at the bottom of the list if it was.... Have no idea how they are above us on Local.
