Hello, i've come here with a question today. What i'm wondering is if I have found a niche, with very low competition (less than 50 other results with niche in quotes) would it be a good idea to try to dominate the front page of google? I'm talking about having 5 of the ten first page results with different websites, would that be profitable enough for the ammount of time it would take? I have a very small niche and it gets about 1500 searches a month. Thank you for your time!

Of course it would...that is if its a profitable keyword and you can make it convert(ie monetize it) first see if anyone has adwords running on the side of the results and use market samurai to see how much their paying for CPC to determine if theirs money to be made (although this may not be indicative in smaller niches with less searches since there may no be many cpc advertisers dumping $$ into that keyword)

I would personally work on getting just one website in the top position on Google. See what kind of money that makes. The more sites you have competing for each other may just increase your cost and dilute your earnings. Unless it has a very high cpa. 1500 searches a month is nothing crazy so I wouldnt spend all that much money unless, like I said it gets a very high cpa or cpc.

I have to ditto the last... build one, split test and hone your website. if you do it right you will have both the site and the page in #1 (which actually gives you more power than 5 of these) -- like was said earlier, you really need to think about "what" and "why" when you start competing with yourself.

Okay. I just have a small adsense niche site being built right now. It wouldn't make sense to compete with myself. It's a virtually untapped niche however, so wish me luck. If I succeed, it will be the first time :)
