domain with ä, ü, ö, ..

hey! Im planning to get a new local leadgen website. with emd domain. but there is a "Ä" inside. and since idn convert it looks like a scammy domainname.

- possible that the traffic sees that one time?
- does this worsen SEO?

I used to own a bunch of IDNs back in around 2008/2009.. everyone in that niche thought they were all going to be multimillionaires because they had "banking.jp" in Japanese etc (but with Japanese characters).

It imploded after the average sale price on the main forum got down to pretty much being reg price.

Wouldn't know if IDNs are worth anything today but last time I checked some years ago it was the most morbid thing I've seen in a while.

I´ve got some .com´s with "Ä, Å AND Ö", and they work very well in local search, in Sweden ofcourse. Would not use IDN for branding though, only for SEO sites .. =)

nice! yeah, i would like to have the Ä only in the domain name. as "branding" just a logo or other brandname at the top of the page.
