Hi,

recently I got an urgent request from my domain registar, they asked me to provide the proof about the address details and such go on. I had to provide KYC/AML-alike such as utility bill or any other address proof, that the address was on the domain and they also wanted a copy of my government ID.

Just sharing the infos with you, i am wondering why they do that?

If its a uk domain Nominet checks your details. If the check fails they require identification to verify the owner as a uk resident. Some other country level domains may have similar requirements.

I see, but i am not an UK resident and my company is located in Asia Area.

I made an error, you can register UK domain as a foreign national but Nominet still checks it "against equivalent address sources and, where possible, against the business registry of the host country." Did you register a uk domain?
