So, about 3 months ago, I bought a domain through name.com, as usually I do, a brand new domain.
However, as it has not been indexed by Google yet, I started to have doubts...

Today I checked the domain on Wayback Machine (http://archive.org/web/) and see there was a previous version of this domain, and this was crap and apparently got penalized (do not know if for content, or if for links). The last crawl archive made of the domain was in August 2012, while I bought it in August 2013.

My question is - Is this penalty permanent, or will Google realize it was a penalty for "previous life" of a domain and finally index it?
Please, share your thoughts and experience with similar situations.

    Thanks!

I had this same problem a while ago. If the domain won't index at all you can submit a reconsideration request through webmaster tools, that worked for me. If it's just a penalty then I'm not sure if it'd work though.

edit: nevertheless might just be easier to start with a completely new domain, especially if you're doing bh seo and don't want to use webmaster tools

If you start with fresh content and a completely new approach with the site the penalty "might" get removed.
Depending on how bad the spam was by the previous owner you could also try to disavow the really bad and spammy links using the webmaster tools.

Thank you guys for your replies.
It's a MNS site, it's EMD (.net) and I did not do any blackhat stuff on it... Majestic shows very little links actually, both in historic and fresh index. But when I see the past version of the website on wayback machine, the content was really, really, crap before...

I am going to ad the site to Webmaster Tools to see what it says. If they tell me anything interesting, I'll for sure update the thread :).

Ok, so I added it to WM Tools, and found the following message in "Manual Actions": Pages on this site appear to use aggressive spam techniques such as automatically generated gibberish, cloaking, scraping content from other websites, and/or repeated or egregious violations of Google's Webmaster Guidelines...

Submitted the reconsideration request, let's see what it does. Thanks again guys for pointing me the right direction!
