I'm just about to register a new VPS, for my whitehat site.

I will be moving a number of other sites onto the same VPS - non of them are blackhat, but they are all dull uninteresting websites.

Is it okay to use the domain name of my whitehat site in the nameserver? Or would you have a unique domain specifically for the nameserver?

    Thanks...

There is nothing wrong with using your whitehat site's domainname as nameserver. Google does not flag nameservers.

Some hosters have 10.000's of sites resolving to a single nameserver.

Only, when you interlink all your websites or when you are building a blognetwork, then.. use unique nameservers for each site in the network. (and ofcourse a unique class C IP)

I doubt google takes the nameserver into the equation. Should be fine either way.

My main site uses it's own domain for the nameservers for my VPS

in fact for whitehat purpose, it is better to use your domain as the nameserver as it looks and act like a private nameserver rather than having some webhosting companies as the nameservers.

For blackhat purpose, you will have to use your domain registrar nameservers and create your A records from there.
