What is better for SEO?

Okay, so [mygoodkeyword].com is taken.

Should I get:

[my-good-keyword].com
[mygoodkeyword]free.com (any extra word)

Also for another domain im interested in:

[mygoodkeyword].com is taken.

However the .net is avaliable..

Is the .net more SEO friendly or is this:

[mygoodkeyword]free.com (any extra word)

Thanks guys. ;)

Install wordpress, activate multisite and use sub-domains..You will no longer have to worry about that. G likes wordpress and loves sub-domian with good keywords & content.

Hmm, I still want to get exact match domains for my new sites, however you have sparked an idea for my existing site (that uses Wordpress) (:

Thanks.

You can also use a free domain registrar like Co.cc I've gotten sites rank pretty high using them..

Hope that helps out...

Yea, but people just trust .com's etc a whole lot more.
+ the resale value.

Depends what you are trying to rank for.

Putting a number in front or at the end of the domain doesn't really affect the keywords (and is better than adding an extra word). Hyphens are ok but not really recommended as not good as type in traffic and google is wise to the fact they are used just to target keywords...

Thanks Crashed.

Just wondering how much better it is to add the number rather than the word (since the word could also be used as a long tail keyword)

Adding a word changes the EMD to that new EMD... Adding a number is just a little more generalised and so doesn't change the meaning as much.

If you are just adding a number just be careful you don't infringe copyright/branding etc of the original domain.
