I am interested in starting my own blog but, unsure if the domain extension truly matters. I have heard Matt Cuts say it does not, but then people say it does matter.

Has anyone here personally experienced a difference in ranking on a domain extension?

    net
    org
    biz
    us
    co
    me

I was thinking a .me would look nice, but if one or the other is best for ranking wise, i'll do it.

So anyone here ever get affected by a specific domain extension at all?

    Thanks BHW.

Apologies if this doesn't entirely make sense in some way. I had to re modify this thread like 20 times in order to get to post it.

I don't give a damn about that. Just bought my country TLD for a site that should rank in USA.

It's not really making a difference in terms of ranking anymore when you take one of the big domain extensions.
What is important tho is that different extensions create different levels of trust in the user when he comes along your blog/website.
When selling your domain the .com extension is the best, followed by .net/.org extensions in terms of monetary value.
