    Hi,

I have a client whose website is an well established authority website with PR in that particular business. I have doing some of the IM works for them. I tried to do on page SEO for their website but I was told that they want nothing on their website but I can do SEO without touching a website. Yesterday, I was asked by the director to bring the website on the search for a two letter keyword which pulls 57,600,000 as the search result. Is it possible for me to bring the website up? The website is directly related to the keyword but the keyword is not in the content or in tags.

Really wondering how to get this done after the recent updates.

    Thanks

    Cruzwithme,

You can generate some rankings with offsite SEO but really that is secondary. Google and other search engines deliver content that is relevant. Even if you had a diverse and large backlink profile from high authority sites, tons of social signals, external properties, etc, if the site doesn't have the keyword on it you are not going to be successful.

Often it can be difficult to balance your own professional needs with the demands of a client. You really want the work and you sometimes it can be hard to tell a client that they are wrong.

I would be very careful to manage your client's expectations in this scenario. Be very up front with them and say, look, I will do what you want but if we cannot perfrom x, y, and z, you will not be successful. At least then when it does fail you were honest and up front with them and maybe they will continue working with you. I would definitely not promise them any sort of high ranking without being able to optimize their content. I just don't see it happening.

Here is a list of offsite tactics you could try,

Hope that helps you and good luck,
