ide never heard of this film, stumbled across it by chance yesterday
i challenge any dog lover to watch this and say they didnt grab
a tissue at the end. based on a true story taken from japan
in 1924 - set in modern day America.

its strange how a story of a dog brought to life by cinema can leave
you feeling all blah and empty, the dog has been gone what 75 yrs
but they way the story comes across is stead fast devotion till the end.

Friends can be unpredictable ... too many variables in the equation - A well trained dog will be your best friend for life. Shame they have such a short life span...

Got three dogs myself :P

so sad watching the dog sit outside the train station for
9 yrs every day waiting for his master who died.
the final 5 mins is a killer

i had 2 dogs / got 1 now

I stopped streaming men in black 3 to watch this... Wish i never now. Damn you proxygo, I'm all emotional.

I LOVE MY DOG

you watch bond grow between the lost pup and
Richard gear , then the dog steals the film over the
last 25 mins, everyday waiting patiently outside the
station through snow wind rain, he waits.
9 yrs. its the dogs final moments b4 he dies
were you sence the dog is dreaming and his master
walks through the train station doors, and the walk
of together, and the camera pans to the sky.
no matter how tuff you think you are, this film will grab
you right at the end and rip your heart out. if your a
dog lover .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachikō

In 1924, Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department at the University of Tokyo, took in Hachikō, a golden brown Akita, as a pet. During his owner's life, Hachikō greeted him at the end of each day at the nearby Shibuya Station. The pair continued their daily routine until May 1925, when Professor Ueno did not return. The professor had suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage and died, never returning to the train station where Hachikō was waiting. Every day for the next nine years the dog waited at Shibuya station.

Hachikō attracted the attention of other commuters. Many of the people who frequented the Shibuya train station had seen Hachikō and Professor Ueno together each day. They brought Hachikō treats and food to nourish him during his wait. This continued for nine years with Hachikō appearing precisely when the train was due at the station.

weird i went t bed last night feeling
sad after i watched that. strange

Favorite moments:

Falling asleep on the couch eating popcorn with Hachi,
Hachi digging under the fence to go to the train station for the first time,
The first time Hachi hears the train coming and jumps the fence to go meet his owner,
The part where the owner take a shot in the face from a skunk to stop Hachi getting sprayed,
Hachi's first fetch.

As for the last 30 minutes, im lost for words. That part cut me deep.

Damn this movie has got me so depressed, I feel like flying home just to take my dog for a walk, I have not seen the little guy for 6 months now :(

just had my wife watch it, didnt tell her anything
other than its a great dog film, she came out the
other room after it had done, went to wash her
face.

Same here, my girlfriend woke up cos she heard me weeping. She laughed when i told her the story line. So tonight its getting watched again, we will see who's the big softy then...

I don't know if I want to watch it. My dog is 8 years old and is starting to get arthritis in his legs. It's terrible to watch. Every morning for since he was a puppy he would run and great me when I woke up. Now he struggles to get up and when he does, he is limping badly towards me.

my wife wants me to get it on blue ray
watching it once was enough for me
leaves you feeling to sad to watch it again

then watch the film sampler

this thread isnt about dogs dying through illness
