does youtube prioritize newly uploaded videos

Hello everyone, I have a youtube channel that I am trying to build and I found this niche that doesn't have a lot of competition recently and more people are searching it but the probleme is that they are old videos with million of views in it,is it worth going in this or finding another niche with less competition overall

Youtube does not prioritize newly uploaded videos but if you just see old videos in it, it is worth to give it a try. You should upload at least five videos to figure out that.
