Does "Ventures" usually means "funding / investment" company these days?

    By definition, ventures usually means business (in general terms).

    However, I do see a lot of start-up companies / capitalist / investment companies call themselves "X ventures" such as "Google Ventures" etc.

    So does the term "Ventures" usually use for the above type of businesses these days? especially in the tech industry?
