    Hey guys,

Just wondering if your keyword was a hugely competitive one, i.e. dogs - would dogsdogsdogs.com be as valuable as an exact match?

    Cheers,
    JC

no, it will rank well for dogs dogs dogs, you can check some domains that are registered like that because promos or songs, the rank well for keyword keyword, but not in first results for keyword.

Can't say it would *never* work, but I tried it years ago when competition wasn't as bad as it is now - and I never got anywhere with domains like that.

what does work .. if your interested ...

keyword + slice = domain .. e.g. fredstimber for keyword 'timber'
+ keyword directory + keyword page

so targeting 'timber' you'd have fredstimber(domain)/timber(directory)/timber (page) htm or php or any other suffix you care to mention..you could also mix it up like this ..

fredstimber(domain)/timber(directory)/timber-frame(sub-directory)/timber-frame-houses (page) ... now your hitting timber in domain, timber, timber frame & timber frame houses carries more clout and also spreads the love through some additional keyword phrases ..

this is extremely simplistic but it still works today the same as it did years ago ...

then it's ALL down to quality original content that interacts with real human beings ... damn them humans !!!

    Respect, Goldie...

It doesn't need to put extra effort in domain, you just need to have good keyword like you may go for puppies not dogs in that case.. :)

In this situation you may as well go something like 'dogsworld.com'. Sounds better to humans IMO is about the same as picking up rankings. Also, if you can pick up a long tail that makes sense, that is better. Say there was a longtail 'everything about dogs', having everythingaboutdogs.com still sounds like a general dogs site, but you get the extra longtail.
