Just doing a study of the traffic of some of the biggest hitters in affiliate marketing:

    magicofmakingup(dot)com

    and

    savemymarriagetoday(dot)com

Their traffic over the last while has dropped 33% and 40% respectively over the course of the last few months.

I also don't know why affiliate marketing should be over. Those two sites mean absolutely nothing. What I do agree is that IM is getting tougher because there is a lot of competition. And more and more people build more and more backlinks. Probably if you compare the number of IM today to 3 years ago, it probably grew immensely.

If you're talking about G0ggle traffic, remember that there's other traffic sources that can be just as if not better than G.

it's called success, they managed to save almost all the marriages and there's less and less marriage in danger, so less and less people visit their site day by day lol

on a serious note: until people buy shit affiliate marketing will never die

i'm not studying the traffic of these affiliate sites, but isn't this decrease in traffic natural by any chance after a while? it can be similar to PLC (product life-cycle) regarding to digital products:
Market introduction -> Growth -> Maturity -> Saturation and decline

    eBay, amazon, CJ, and clickbank.

Lol just to name a few

The problem will always be traffic . As things are always changing on that end

Come bump this when Groupon is gone in a year.

As to the OP, it does seem like Google really doesn't like affiliate sites, which is pretty stupid considering they own adsense/adwords and want to promote it. I remember the last update a lot of sites got hurt.

Hmm. Has anyone noticed that 90% of news stories, blog posts, forum threads (such as this) that have a question as the title can just shortly be answered "no". :D

Affiliate marketing is not dead but several ways in which affiliates became successful are dead/dying.

I saw this having just finished writing a guide for an affiliate program I will soon be running. Many of the people that will become affiliates have never been involved in affiliate sales and to them, this is brand new.

As long as it is harder for the product owner to directly contact the buyer (email, IM, Facebook, SEO, etc), there will always be a need for affiliates. Affiliates are the ones that will do the promotion for us.

Also, don't forget the some programs die to to poor material, bad affiliate managers and lazy affiliates.

Everybody is always worried about Google. There are so many other traffic sources available that nobody takes advantage of. If you don't think outside of the Google box, you will always be wearing the Google handcuffs....

I only do SEO for small business geo-targeted keywords. But for money sites, why not look at a few alternatives (like PPV or PTC) that still work? It may save you a lot of time and frustration...

People making these types of threads should be banned for one month.

Now let's get down to business. It took me exactly 0.5 seconds to read the title to this thread. You owe me compensation for writing such a stupid thread.

Now at my normal IM billable rate of $2,500 per hour, $2,500/60 minute is $41 per minute. The half second it took me is $0.68. Add this to a minimum flat rate of $150.

You owe me $150.68 for this reading your stupid title. Please make a paypal payment now.
