Lets say you want to rank your website for these keywords:

    How to lose weight
How to lose weight fast etc.

But those domains are of course taken.

So would it better to have "Loseweight" in the domain name back to back
than "losemoreweight" for example. Does it matter the words are not immediately next to each other in EMD bonuses for keywords?

Exact match is always best, however having some of the keywords in the domain name help.
    I.e.

    #1 (best) howtoloseweight.com
    #2 howtolosemoreweight.com
    #3 weightlosshowto.com
    #4 weightlosscompany.com

seems like brandability sucks for those domain names though, I don't really want to pick such an exact EMD for my site, but google gives such an obvious bonus to those who do.

I think you better to have the keyword in the domain address.

It is known that when you promote long tail keyword and do it good
it will apply for the keyword in exact search for example if you try to rank
"Best How to lose weight tips for 2012" you will probably get ranked for
"how to lose wait" if youll do your SEO work good.

But having EMD is always helps to get better rankings specially when you looking
to enter to such competitive niche.

If you're targeting those types of keywords, you're most likely going to have to have a huge site and give it lots of authority. The best way to build authority is through branding. It's very difficult to build a brand when you have your main keywords in your domain, under most circumstances.
