This is a bizarre one - a very competitive adult niche, not just in number of searches but even more in value and cut-throat competition. My lovingly-linked, aged top 10 site was hit by the Penguin. But one of my crappy, sub-niche, thrown-together, barely-backlinked one page sites stayed in the top 20. When Penguin 1.1 hit, it moved into the top ten. Today, I wake up to see that it's now #1. It's not even designed for the main keyword's traffic, it's aimed at a small subniche - so I'm not making sales on it. I'm just laughing that it's #1 ahead of everyone who's been fighting for this keyword for years. I know it won't be there long, but it seems they're not solving problems with Penguin, they're making them worse.
