    I've been thinking about this for a while, since at least in my local area the radio hosts only seem to play music that was from the major U.S.(actually French) labels. Even if the music is complety garbage and makes you switch the channel to another station they still play it. Yet there is so many good songs from all over the world that never get played on local radio. Is this due to copyright laws, payola, or really bad local radio djs?

    I have yet to hear a song by Radio Killer, Tinie Tempah, Connect-r,Deepside Deejays, Sunrise Inc, Loreen. I haven't even heard the faydee song Laugh until you cry by any of the local radio dj's in my area. And that just scratches the surface of good artists from all over the world that don't get any air time here.

    Isn't the point of being a radio dj, to introduce good unknown music to people? Other then that you might as well use itunes on shuffle then having a radio dj and save the money.

    My understanding is that there are no longer an "independent" radio stations, and they all play whatever is on the list that's given to them from some central headquarters. One "hip hop" station in particular has exactly 12 songs in it's rotation. When I can't stand any more right-wing lunatics ranting & raving, and NPR makes me want to go downtown and kill everyone in the Starbucks with a machete, I play this station for a few hours in order to remind myself how much worse things can get.

    I sometimes listen to local radio when Im in my car since I dont have an aux cable input yet. But when I'm home or on a trip and rent a car with an aux input I only listen to radio zu,radio 21 or kiss fm(stations from romania).

    I have to switch stations after every 1-2 songs to another local station,they are so bad lol.

    @Nigel
    All here are owned by entercom, so I guess thats why they are so bad.
