Hello everyone!

I have my first site and started building links slowly (going 3 weeks now) (making web 2.0 buffer sites).
But no ranking improvements for now, low competition (according to google keyword planner)..

I checked the backlinks of site and saw like 2 dozens or more nofollow backlinks (using small seo tool).
I remembered that I was spamming facebook pages, posting the links of my site before building links.

So my question is that does no follow backlinks makes your site longer to rank?
Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

"Low Competition" in the Google Keyword Planner refers to the competition among Google Adwords advertisers who are bidding on the keyword, not the SEO Competition (ie how hard it is to rank organically in Google). These are two different things, don't get them confused.

Don't focus on no-follow or do-follow, there are only "good links" and "bad links".

Just build more quality links and you will solve your problem.

To my understanding nofollow links will not effect the amount of time it will take to see improvement.

thanks!

No follow links definitely does not effect your ranking. But, when your site has high percentage of no follow links it returns a negative signal to your ranking.

No-follow links won't help you rank, however it's good to have a couple high quality no-follows for diversification.

I think I read somewhere that it is better to have mix of no-follow and do-follow backlinks instead of just a bunch of do-follow...

I personally like to make it simple...so I just manually create backlinks from various sites such as web 2.0 , articles directory, blog directory...I don't even care about no/do-follow stuff...

Oh, that's just pure awesomeness.

I think this should be a test question for every new member. If they don't pass the "Low competition" question they can't register. This way everyone will finally learn what is Low comp at Google KW planner...

The nofollow doesn't affect ranking process. However, you need it so your website will be seem as natural at Google.

I think someone else said it right. Go after relevant and high quality links. No need to worry about follow/no-follow. Leave that to the SEO guys of 2010.
