Okay so I've been trying to rank my website recently for "keyword1 keyword2 uk" and for ages I haven't seen any results, because I was checking G.co.uk (which is my priority). However, upon checking G.com I found out I'm ranked 20th which came as a shock since I'm not ranked within the top 500 in UK G. Is there any reason for this? Do I need to focus my backlinks on .co.uk domains or just give UK G a chance to catch up? Could it be to do with the algorithm change not affecting UK G?

Also, my keyword phrase on the keyword tool has 5400 total monthly searches and 3600 local (local being UK). When it says local, does this mean searches from G.co.uk or could it also be G.com but identifying the person as being from the UK?

    Thanks in advance.

It's an interesting question - I would also love to get an answer for that.

I've no idea about the answer of this question.. I think only G that know.

Because I get some experience with this in the past..

After 6 months working on SEO, my website still not ranked in Google(US) as my targeted market. But my site get a lot of visitors from UK. Then I check on Google(UK) by using proxy and surprised to see my site is #2 in UK for my targeted keyword. But the traffic are not convert any sell.

    - My IP domain & web server is from US.
    - Build backlinks on website with TLD (.com .net .org) and some from .edu site

So, I decide to edit information on G webmaster tool >> set Geographic target from global to US.

    RESULTS

Just in 3 days my site is appear on Google(US) SERP.. and every days the rank was climb up so fuc*in crazy.. just one week I'm achive #5 on Google (US) until now.

To get best results, your site must have backlinks from .co.uk domains.

Thanks everybody. I do actually have the geographic target set to UK so I'm not sure that's the problem. I will start building backlinks from .co.uk sites.

From my experience, I have websites, targeted G UK, but every time I started a new website and even target UK in Websmaster tools, it always climb faster in G (US) and after some time it appears and in G UK.

Also I observed in the beginning the first SERP of my website is internal page like mydomain.com/my-domain/... and after some time it appears and the main domain only with better ranking.

It's possible and some dancing in the beginning... etc. appears on G second page just 48 hours after creating the domain, then disappearing from G Top 100 for a week and then come back on 1st/2d page in G.
