Ok guys, I have a .gr website that ranks pretty good, I have like 1000 visits/day from google, but I'm trying to improve this, and now I'm thinking about changing the TLD to a .com/.net/.org.

What's your EXPERIENCE with this? I'm not asking what do you think because I hope some of you guys have some experience with this, that would be more helpful..

Cheers and sorry if I spammed the Black Hat SEO area but I don't want to post this on DP and I don't want to hear some white hat seo guy ;)

from my experience with .nl and .be regional tld's tend to rank better in local search results ex: google.nl and google.be

So I could rank better with a .net/com/org ... but rank lower on the local search results (google.gr)

with the same promotion work for the two, the regional tld's tend to rank higher in local searches, but if you promote a .net/com/org better than the regional tld then the things may change

also, for a regional tld is good to build some links on regional websites, like for yoursite.gr to promote it in greece social bookmarking sites and so on, this will help a lot

Bro I want to rank on .com I don't need the .gr traffic (also .gr is fake, it's just an example, I'm being paranoid).

So from what I've been reading and from what you're saying if I WANT TO RANK ON GOOGLE.COM I need to get myself a nice .com/net/org domain and do a 301 redirect on that domain.. and hope for the best. I'll wait for more opinions tho'.

yes, .org .net and .com are the best for google.com rankings

from my testing, and others comments last year, .org actually had the best

results, but this is likely to have changed by now.

Yup, local TLD's rank better on the matching ''local'' google (i.e. google.co.uk for co.uk domains) while the ''Big Three'' (COM/NET/ORG) TLD's rank better on google.com
