Alright, hear me out.

The standard way to make a profitable blog is to make a good webpage, put in good content, put in time and effort, rank up, get regular visitors, monetize etc. etc.

If done well, this really works but it requires a lot of time and effort.

Would it make sense to do the opposite? What I mean is this:

Make a blog whose only purpose is to write promotion articles. Do NOT focus on getting subscribers and regulars, instead focus on ranking up every single blog post (on low comp keywords) and getting SEO traffic. You would probably have 0 regulars, just people stumbling upon your blog when searching for something.

Do put in effort into making properly written articles and promote an affiliate product. I understand that conversion rates would be low, but you would put out so many of them so it would have to be profitable at some point, statistically. You would be focusing on quantity over quality.

Again, all of your articles would be promotions so no one would follow your blog. The only visitors would be SEO traffic people searching for something. This should have to be profitable at a proper volume, no?

What do you think? Have any of you tried this?

if you want to play the game, monetize with adsense.

That makes sense as well. Then it wouldn't be a niche blog but instead a random something-else blog. That might even work to get some regular visitors, hmm.
Do you think that would be more worthwhile than my suggested affiliate method?

Affiliate + adsense

I guess that could do it. So I could get some regulars by posting affiliate links rarely and primarily monetizing with adsense.

So do you think it's worth it to put out a lot of articles and rank them for keywords?

Well I think this particular method is definitely popular with the churn and burn technique. 100% organic traffic, but with the right research and approach, you'd maximize the conversion ratio and hence maximizing the profit from that specific keyword respectively.
I think 99% of churn and burn depend on the organic SEO traffic, and it does pay, when the right keyword is hit and with the right remedy to squeeze everything out of your visitor to ensure that they make a purchase through your site or link.

Monetizing SEO is almost the entire point of blogging, the money you get for each user just isn't enough to support paid advertising.

I'm not sure why would anyone call this a churn and burn technique... This is how the majority of people/affiliates do it, myself included. Of course, it's better to create a list and an audience to break your dependency from Google but if you are running a nail fungus treatment website I doubt you'll get many "regulars"...

As for the conversion rate, it will largely depend on the visitors intent. If the person comes to your website looking for the best cure for nail fungus, your conversion rate will be high. Of the other hand, if they are looking for pictures of nail fungus, no so much.

You can not make profits by using your blog but writing blogs with good content will help you increase your website traffic by this you can add some affiliate products to your website which will get you some money

What? are you saying that paid advertising is -EV when blogging no matter what? can anyone confirm this? in that case paid advertising is for ecommerce only?

You mean traffic arbitrage? If so then yes, it's dead.

But if you do paid promotions to get the site seen and receive backlinks and so on, it's not all lost, though the ROI will be minimal if any.

Sarcasm?

It seems like the same amount of energy would be needed to rank your site so why not create content that people would be interested in?

This makes sense. I know many blogs are running in this way.

You need to do really good keyword research and write high quality contents to make this work.

promote to your first time visitors; that's asking for failure. The right formula should be building a list using your blog (welcome gate, exit intent pop up etc). As for traffic, other than seo, there are so many other ways of getting traffic to your blog. If you have time; use influencers outreach method. If you have money to spend, make a lead magnet and use FB ad to build your leads. When you break your first 1000 email subs, everything change. You can leverage them to bring you more visitors.
