I was just wondering whether you have ever found that automatic content, like RSS feeds actually have helped you in anyway. I can never see how they help because everyone knows that the information is not coming from your site and there is usually a link to the site. This would just end up in people leaving your website through the links.

I can see where you're coming from with this! It is content from other sites, but I don't think that it actually harms the site by having it there. What have you got to lose.

Yes, indeed everybody knows that, but they get to the info they need through your site, which means more traffic. So, you already have a first advantage, you keep your visitors there for a few moments and this counts a lot.

I agree with you there twirly. If some can get the information on your site, regardless if you have put it there or not it is an advantage.

If you can provide quality RSS feeds to your site, it will keep visitors comming back for more. RSS feeds also provide changing content which search engines love. If you'r worried about visitors leaving your site through the RSS feeds as I'm sure we all are a little I would suggest putting the rss feeds into a narrow column on the right or left hand side. Or else place the feeds way down at the bottom. Also you could change the text color to a color which slightly matches the background so it blends in and is hard to read. :D

Do you not think that this is defeating the point a bit, by placing the RSS feeds at the bottom or out the way you might as well not have them on your site.

I don't think so..after all the main purpose for all of us using black hat is to make some money out of it..unless some one uses it as a test bed or out of hate for google...;)

But the point Black Hat made is valid...u don't want it so visible that ppl leave ur site like that...u would want them to leave probably by clicking an ad...and I was once told by a senior bh...make ur ads the most beautiful thing on the page...:D

u just want spiders to visit...

    hope this helps

    Cheers !

Pick and choose your feeds wisely go for the less popular sites to pick from. For example if your using a feed from a well known providor a lot of sites will be doing the same therefor creating duplicate content. Make a script maybe to reword somethings and muddle a few things around

    what is this discussion about
Is this a Black Hat forum or what?

Quality content? return visitors? BH is about getting search engine traffic to your site and converting that into money

can you get help from RSS feeds? yes because you get content that you need to feed the spiders.

Do you need a live RSS feed? I dont think so.
What options are there to live? cache the feed one time
Why cache it? because you will in most cases be the only one exactly at that time to do so and will end up with content
What about outbound links? you are black hat, do some coding and make them unclickable

Come on people think black hat

If they are black hats, then I have to agree with the above. It's not that hard to use RSS to get auto content to gain traffic from search engines.

I thought content generation was about getting more visitors and not the quality of the content

hello. this is my first post. im glad to be a part of this forum.

black hatting is mainly about tricking the search engines to get you free targeted traffic so you can earn money... lots of it.

rss feeds provide your site with automatically changing content and spiders love changing content. they will visit your site more often.

boots is right. if you are worried about people leaving your site thru the outbound links, you can always disable it.

such a long thread and no one mentions the important stuff.

On your site place no-follow links so the PageRank does not bleed out. You end up getting free content. If you forget to do this, the the site that sent you the RSS loves you because not only do they get traffic from you but they also get PR (now you know why you should have your own RSS feed)
it's a two way street get it.
There is no blackhat in using rss feeds., you get relevant content on your site because you cannot come up with your own. The search engine 'thinks' you have a freshness and have updated your site... but they are getting smarter... rss has even less benefit after the engines are smarter.
