Yes from my experience slow and steady growth looks more natural, sites that build content and links over time tend to hold rankings better, fast growth sometimes spikes then drops.

You need to demonstrate the trustworthiness of your website through several metrics that Google considers reliable, such as reviews and content that provides real value. Growth rate is not as important as building trust for your website.

From what I’ve seen, it’s not really about how fast or slow you grow, it’s more about how natural everything looks. A site can grow quickly and still do well if the traffic, links, and content all make sense together and don’t look manipulated. The issue with fast growth is that it often comes with patterns that raise flags, not the speed itself.
Slow growth just tends to be safer because it’s easier to stay consistent and natural over time. But if everything is done properly, growth speed alone isn’t something Google is likely to penalize.

Google definitely trusts a slow, steady build way more than a sudden spike in links or content, if a brand new site suddenly gets 500 backlinks in a week, their algorithm usually flags it as unnatural spam and tanks the domain. Keep it looking normal by dripping out content and slowly earning a few quality links every month.
