Do you think google cares how frequently you post new content?

If so, how would they do this? By looking at the page/post dates, or by checking the page count everytime they crawl your site?

Some people say that publishing a blog post every month is important for keeping up in rankings.

However, for small niche sites with no long tail keywords, am i wasting my time by writing 1000 word posts every 2 weeks ?

A lot of metrics are part of the Google algorithm

Content renewal might be one of them, but can't tell you how important it is for your SEO
