Does google search still pays ? (Changing users homepage)

Hi,

I had a thought hitting my mind a while ago and i was wondering the following :

Does we still get revenues if we change users navigator homepage to our own google/search homepage. May we get a ban for this ?

I don't think so, I already saw some stupid programs which I've installed which changed my home page on the browsers and they had a custom google seach
