I have a couple of 2yr old domains that I haven't started building a site or build backlinks to it. It has never been indexed yet. Will google still sandbox this domain?

No Google will not Sandbox this domain. Google only sandbox the websites which are relatively new and are seeking for high search engine visibility.
Google can sandbox this domain only when your submitted this domain site for indexing.

And, The Sandbox can be avoided to a degree by developing or purchasing a website and making it live before it is fully ready. While the site will endure low rankings, it will start the clock ticking on its Sandbox duration time. Make sure to add sufficient incoming links to get past the alleged new links filter. Keep adding content to your site. Or other things that can be done to boost your site’s appearance on the Internet. If you have time working in your site’s favor, it can be applied against your possible stay in the Sandbox. With proper time management, a site can avoid the Sandbox entirely.
