Does google know when a link is created or does it just go by the date it crawls that link?

Is creating 10 links in 1 day the same as 10 links in 10 days if it takes google longer to actually detect those links?

Actually unless you are getting hundreds of links a day using blackhat on a new website you shouldn't worry about number of links. 10 links a day is fine, even if google index them. If they are on different platforms then most likely they will be indexed on different dates .

Google knows the crawl date for sure and crawls most sources daily. If its something not crawled daily it references dates found on the post sometimes if it can figure out its a time-stamp.

I wouldn't sweat it over 1 link a day being indexed the next day... it sounds like you are drip feeding just fine.
