let's say you had duplicated content on your site for a while. it get indexed, after that you remove it ( both from your site and google index). does google keep track of those pages and say " this site had at one time duplicated content" and use it in their algo to rank you ?! or you just remove it and you're safe.

Pretty sure they keep records of domains on their system, once you go black (hat) you never go back.

i dont think they keep a copy. i';ve used BH content on more than one site, and just move things when a domain is penalized. If they kept records, i wouldnt be able to rank the same content again and again.

I saw some case study where they kinda proved G keeps a lot of disappeared content in its database. Although i dont believe in this and i always use recovered content from dead sites and never had any issue because of that.
