yes they do. they tend to rank you lower if you have affiliate links on your websites. this is what happens after the latest updates

    YES google hate affiliate links.
You have to add unique original compelling content not just use what's available in umpteen places.
Google don't like visitors to land on your site which sells Amazon or eBay stuff when they could go straight there.

You need to insulate affiliate links, using rel="nofollow" for instance.

if you are using a redirect plugin than it's ok ... well at least for affiliate links, but you HAVE to make all links pointing to that url nofollow, you maybe asking why ? we all know that do-follow links carry link juice . and you aren't trying to rank for a redirection link right ? so keep your link juice ;)

    Google doesn't hate affiliate links.

As long as you have a lot of good content for your users and don't overdue your affiliate links, you should be fine.

SECRET: If you are making an aff website, put up the articles first and let G rank them first. After they have been ranked/crawled/indexed, add your aff links...You won't lose rankings!

I might experiment with this,I was thinking along the same lines rank the site then cash in.I might add a twist by adding the affil link then deleting it regularly. It's a test but it's sure going to puzzle googlebot as to what's going on.
Now to find something to promote and test!

what happens when they re-crawl your sites? this might work short term but not sure how it's suppose to last.

Also make sure the redirect url for the affiliate link is excluded from your sitemap.

How exactly do you make an aff link nofollow?
I say the whole rel="nofollow" thing, but how do you put that into your link?
Maybe that's why it's been so hard for me to rank >.<

    - It's the fact that many affiliate sites are not as focused on quality
measures which hurts their sites. Not simply outgoing links ;)

Check out the SERP results for keyword "how to lose weight fast" - here you'll
find a few Affiliate sites that are ranking very well.

Live concrete examples are always best to go by!

I have heard that fake review sites you've built to relay shoppers to your site SHOULD have affiliate links so that they don't appear to be faked by you. Any thoughts on this???
