Okay okay, i know this forum is crowded by EMD threats, but i don't ask about enhance ranking, because i know after Panda, google no longer add value to EMD websites, but here, i don't asking about adding value or not, i'm asking aboust HURTING ranking.
Does EMD hurt ranking nowadays ? When google see 2 websites trying to rank for the same keyword like [learn training dogs fast] , one has EMD like [learntrainingdogsfast.com]
and the other is [dogshome.com],,,,,, Which one u thing google will enhance ranking for the keyword ?

i dont think that EMD will hurt your ranking , in fact EMDs still have some value , i have an EMD which is on position 10 (sometimes 13) without any backlinks or even optimized content so i guess that EMD still have value

absolutely not. maybe a couple of months ago they removed the value to emds, but i think they have added it back.
    emd helps these days.

If SEO is done properly, then EMD's can rank better than non-EMDs. I DON'T believe that EMD's are more susceptible to penalties than non-EMD domains are, although many will disagree with me.

EMD still work just fine. Any advantage that you can get from ranking, take it. Because at some point when you end up stuck at #2, you're going to wish you were the EMD at #1.

I'm currently working on 2 sites, one is an EMD and another one is non EMD. Both got good rankings within the span of 10 days.. link building adds more boost to the EMD's for sure.. from my experience EMD's are still better than non EMDs.

I noticed EMD's still have value on sites I have with very little SEO used on them.

I make it short. Recent websites have shown me the following:

1 Word EMD's are still extremely powerful on TDL's.

More words and it loses its effect. I also have a test with "E-M-D.TLD" showing is much weaker than "EMD.TLD".

Recently I've been prefering to have a generic domain name which is easy to remember, if there was no EMDs left. Like I wouldnt go for EMD.cc, EMD.tv etc....Rather have a generic domain then :)

ALSO: Trying to rank in Spain, rather get a .ES domain than anything else.

    Hi,
I agree, in my experience EMD still ranks fine and if it's an EMD with a country specific tld like .co.uk, .es or any other, it ranks even better than a non EMD.

This reminds me of a popular saying: When You're in Rome Be a Roman!

My experience with an EMD site which was published about a month ago on a 6 month old domain is that it got good rankingwithout any seo or link building.
