It seems like years ago Google would reward sites who put out content regularly now it seems like whether a site has one or multiple pages of blogs it doesn't matter as much as it used to.

An example of this is Amazon ranking for a niche that they don't even put content out about. I.E. one page on a product versus a website that is all about the niche.

I try to put out occasional content for the users but it seems like unless the content gets linked to Google may not care about it so much. Also I imagine having a decent amount of content may help but I'm not sure how much Google cares about fresh content or not. One of the top ranking sites in my niche doesn't even appear to have a blog or news section. What do you think about this?

    Thanks

it depends on the niche, if your competitors put fresh content regular, good content will be a must in this case, i myself in a niche of companies that dont put any content (just the basic pages like home, services, about us,....) and i found that creating a blog didnt make me any good, and i ranked only by links, and even after i deleted all my blogs, still have my old ranking and even got higher rankings

Instead of worrying about how much google cares about your content focus on trying to make sure your visitors enjoy and find your content useful.

one more thing, if you have a good content in a niche that doesnt have good content, it will give you an edge, but only if you have quality links, so i will say, if you have a strong links, and ranking, you may need to create content for better and longer results, just dont overdo it.

That's how I roll but it is a question sometimes if having a regular news cycle also helps in serps or not. I do generally try to make the site have articles worth reading in case a user wants to read more about the niche or products we carry, etc.

It really depends on the niche, for one of my sites I basically get decent traffic just from the content I put onto the site with no seo whatsoever. The more content that is of a good quality it will also make people stay on your website longer which is probably just as important as # of visitors if not moreso.

It still about backlinks and the authority of the domain. Content is just one way to get links, so as a result their new content ranks fast. Think youtube.
