I currently have a standalone website in HTML/CSS, with a one-page only ranked #2. I wanted to change into Wordpress, mainly due to conversation rate, I want to improve it a little bit, but I am worried about my rank. Does changing the structure of your website affects seo? Thanks in advance.

There is a very good chance that the page will drop in the rankings. That's based on my experience, which may not be the same for you, but I would give it a lot of consideration before making the switch.

Yes. Rankings will typically drop but most of the time they'll bounce right back up.

Sometimes they don't change at all. These days when I want to make big changes to my site, I do everything in photoshop first. Then I slowly change 1 element at a time on the site, over the course of weeks or months, until the new design is fully implemented.

In your case, you're doing something different. And I feel there is more risk involved. But at the same time this is part of business. Lots of companies change / update their sites. And if the new version will create a better user experience, better conversions, I'd do it sooner than later. Cause the more you think about it the more likely you are to keep pushing it off.

Your rankings will most likely take a hit.

Why on earth would you want to take a perfectly good HTML site and make it in WP?

How do you think it will help conversions?

Well, based on a colleague's experience, what is going to happen to you is that your ranking will go down after the switch. However, after some time - the typical time needed for a website to reach total recovery - you will eventually find your way up again, especially if you have good strategies for recovery.

Yes, usually rankings go down but sooner or later they will settle back up.

By the way, I don't recommend switching from HTML to WP since WP is slower when it comes to loading time (which is an important ranking factor), and your site might not recover entirely in rankings.

You should enjoy rankings as of now, Dont play with it. When you drop, you can do anything you want to.

I don't know what others say! I have experienced this some days ago! I converted my clients site from HTML to wp. Site was having almost all keywords under first 3 spots but after changing HTML to wp sites drops to 3rd page and take one week to recover....

Your site will drop for sure but recovering depends on many factors! Though you can try this but never let your site go down more than 24 hours

If it's a one page only site, why would you convert it to WordPress? Users won't see the code behind the rendered page, so converting it to WP won't increase your conversion rate.

Actually, it would to be honest, in many ways. I could add a lot more details with WP, such as testimonials, reviews, contact page, more pages and stuff to make it look more promising.

May be hold on for a while unless your ranking drops as changing the website is going to affect for sure.
And you're shifting from html to wp so definitely going to affect a lot more than just few tweaks.

From my experience, yes, you will drop. I changed one sentence on my website, the website dropped for 1 month and now it's back just few days ago.

I've seen ranking changes on my sites after doing nothing but changing my theme, so yeah, your rankings might drop or improve if you switch to WordPress, although I wouldn't worry much about this.
