It will almost certainly make no difference at all.

Personally I would strongly disagree with this opinion. Any traffic from different IPs that improves Alexa ranking will help raise the authority in SEO

I would be interested in a case study with botted unique IP traffic with referrer set to Facebook/Twitter to see if it gives you site any sort of social boost. Plain botted traffic with no particular referrer I believe would benefit your site very minimally, if at all though.

Why would Alexa ranking improve SEO? The two have nothing to do with each other.

Well it could work.. For example if your website was on page 1 or 2 and you made a bot that would search for your keyword in google then spend some time on the search page and then click through your website, spend some time there then I guess Google might push your website up because you'll be getting more visitors and a better bounce rate than the others. But that's just a theory and you'll have to play it very carefully to make it work IF it would actually work.

Yup. In my experience, it has worked quite well. Having a small amount of traffic trickled each day (even using tools like Link Collider and AddMeFast - with the referrer option turned off), has made almost every single page on the website indexed on Google, and it has been moving up steadily - with some of the URLs coming up to Page 2. The only thing i've done is to have traffic through these 2 sites - but not too much - a couple hundred visitors each day.
