Hy guys I just want to know is

Does backlink relevancy matter? because I don't understand in case of free backlinks
like
profile backlink
edu backlink
forum backlinks or community backlinks
or another free backlink should they be relevant to our niche

I mean is the content in which we link or hyperlink our website URL and the content around that URL should be relevant or the complete website from which we are getting backlinks should be relevant??

what do you guys think about this?

ideally, you want backlinks from the same niche as yours. If there are no sites in the same niche as you, then you want backlinks from the same industry as you but - preferably - from a page on that website that addresses the same topic as the page on your website that you're linking to, or a topic that's similar to the topic you are linking to..

If neither of these 2 options are possible (for whatever reason) the next best option is backlinks from a page that has content on the same topic as your page.

If none of these 3 options are available still, just get a backlink from a page that has authority and traffic, or from the homepage of a website (this type of links is called PBN) that's in good standings with google.

These are the 4 best types of links you could get.... in this order generally, but things could be switched around depending on circumstances.

Does backlink relevancy matter?
of course that it does!

For the sake of simplicity, let's assume that google is trying to rank 2 pages with identical / similar content for the same keyword, and everything is equal or roughly equal in terms of SEO (both sites have the same age, trust with google, number of ranked keywords and indexed pages, the same traffic levels and user engagement, etc... let's assume that everything's equal between both sites, for the sake of making the point)

But the page of one website has a UR of 16 and 5 backlinks from 5 different domains, with all 5 of these backlinks coming from pages with content similar to the page they're linking to, while the page of the other website has the same UR (16) and the same number of backlinks (5), but these 5 backlinks come from pages that are completely unrelated to the content of the page of this 2nd website.

Who do you think google will rank higher in this case? It's pretty simple: in most cases it will rank the page with relevant backlinks (there might be outliers / cases in which the worse / least relevant page will rank, and only google knows why they do this, but generally speaking, the relevancy will win over non-relevancy, all things being equal)

ideally, they should be relevant. But relevancy is hard to come by with free profile and web 2.0 links, so in this case it's the authority and diversity of the link that matters. Just get some of these links, point them to your tier 1 links (tier 1 links = the links that point directly to your site) and move on, don't stress too much about relevancy in this case!

Of course, the links you'll be getting will still come from relevant pages (especially with web 2.0s since the content you'll be publishing on web 2.0s will always be relevant since you're the one publishing it :p)... And so it will be with forum links too since one can only assume that you'll be getting links from forums centered around the topic of your site, otherwise what's the point in even getting forum links if they have no authority and no relevancy??

So anyway, with free, easy to get links, if the relevancy is there, fine! If it's not there, fine again! Just get the links so you can diversify your linking profile and dilute the eventual overused anchors and move on to more important stuff!

I see my competitors is getting links from the edu sites and non relevant website also free guest post website and they are still getting ranking but me noob I'm stuck in indexing my site is dont even getting index on google

I have checked all the link of my competitor not a single one multiple competitors they are all using non relevant backlinks

My niche is anime streaming have you any idea??

If indexation is the issue, it might be another matter altogether. Typically it is easier to get indexed if you follow the technical on-page SEO basics.

Ranking however is another matter. Backlinks help but before starting backlining it would be best to optimize the site and its contents first.

Depends on the difficulty of the keywords you are trying to rank for.

Yes, it is. The article must be relevant to the topic of your website and if the site is relevant to your website, it will provide more value.

The competitor may use the profile, forum, and edu links to diversify their link profile. You can consider checking the other backlink sources and the content surrounding the anchor. It still works if they are relevant to their topic and the entire site doesn't need to be relevant.

non-relevant links are still good if they have authority (which Ahrefs measures with the UR metric). It's also possible that they have hidden links that Ahrefs / Semrush (and SEO tools in general) can't detect, a lot of websites do this nowadays, they hide their strongest links to avoid being spied on by competition...

But anyway, apparently your problem is indexation, not ranking, which - like @koyut said - it's a different matter altogether.

And since indexation is the problem I would look into content quality, technical SEO or even domain issues (it's possible that the domain had been spammed in the past and google have flagged it and now they refuse to index it).

That means only link power matters in your niche.

Getting a relevant link for your website might be a plus point. But If your competitors are just ranking using non-relevant but high authority links then you can too.

as much as I like helping you guys out not even I can do this as it's against forum's rules (this is Jr. Vip exclusive content so it must stay there). Sorry

You need good backlinks from the same niche or industry. Edu backlinks are the strongest. If the website you're getting the backlink is relevant to your own then it's the best choice for you. But if it's not relevant you won't get a lot of "link juice".

not get lot of link juice but still will get something and something is better than nothing

Tbh mate free links usually won't give much SEO value to the site, I only use them to balance out my link profile to add more no-follow links, indexing purposes or get more direct traffic on forum sites.
