Does auto follow still work IG?

As I read many people said its getting killed,I just want to make one account and grow it,but I need to buy proxy,program and then waste 3 weeks to see it doesnt work,so just wanted to ask maybe someone can help me out,is it possible to grow fully automated IG with high following account which does get reach when you post something? Thanks.
