I'm trying to figure out the best way to monetize reseller hosting, basically I'm getting leads and making them a free site then letting them pay me for hosting. Any tips for getting some sustainable income from this? Currently charging what most other hosters charge at $8 per month

Raise your price - nobody builds a free site for someone and charges $8 a mo hosting. The cheap business model will fail you every time. Do it right, put up your best work and say $19.99 a month

Why not? If he makes simple websites that are done in under an hour this is a nice method to get a long time income because people will keep paying you each and every month for some hosting you bought for a few bucks.

Good point, I've already got several people interested... but many are just skeptical of the $8 a month, but I admit, I am rushing them through to build a quick website, which is probably not what they want. So I think I will take your advice, make this a little more customized, give them what they want and try to build a more expensive hosting model. To be honest, this is working just find without reseller hosting, I'm just using wordpress CMS and having them edit it from there, most people don't want to deal with CPANEL and other shit like that, definitely need a disclaimer for that though. Will update this when things get going.
