Does anyone use JoinToHire.com ?

So I posted a job on Upwork and offered it to a freelancer.

He asked for my email (which was a bit suspicious but I thought ok, maybe just some details needed) and sent me an email to move over to this Join To Hire site I have no knowledge of, because he only works through that site.

Needless to say, he never mentioned we would have to move there in order accept my job offer. It might be a good site, I'm just a bit more comfortable with Upwork.

Long story short, is that a reputable site? I have personally never heard of it, but I'm no expert in this field.

If this is the first time you are working with that freelancer better stay on upwork. The site you mentioned seems pretty new, so if its a project with some big amount staying secure is a better option.

Yes, first time and I'm always cautious with these things, just thought maybe someone uses it regularly and knows more about it.

Stay on Upwork for the time being if he performs at your set standards then you can take it private... I do this all the time

Don't risk anything with a random. You'll likely end up fucked.
