does anyone run a smf forum? need a bit of help

    does anyone here run a smf forum? im trying to block guests from vieweing the topics. but i want them to be able to see the main board.. now i cant find the optin to do this.. i have found this and tried it Allow guests to browse the forum. but it turns the whole forum off. so when i goto view as guest. i cant see nothing. just asking me to reg. but i want that to happen when they try to click a topic to read.. how does one do this?

    Forums and Moderators >> Forum Permissions >> Find the forum you want to hide >> Select Unregistered / Not Logged under that forum>> And then set 'Can View Thread Content' to no.

    It'll let them see thread titles in said forum, but when they click on a thread they will see the 'no permission page' and ask to login.

    what version is that for as i dont see any of the above options you say lol.. i see permissions but dont see any of what u just said?

    I'm 3.8.3 still. It should still be pretty much the same. I added more details to my post above.

    nope. i am on 1.1.1 which was provided by simplescripts when i installed on hosting.. but the problem imn having is finding anything even close to what you say.. i can see permissions and so on. but i cant see any options.. heres what im seeing when in admin area
