I am needing local numbers for google place listings in various cities.

I found this company where you can pick local numbers around the US for 7.95 per month.

    Code:
    http://www.hostednumbers.com/
Does anyone know of a cheaper one? It has to have a call forwarding service (obviously).

    Thanks for the input

those things are 25 cents each then you pay for the usage

and you can forward the numbers where you like

Im not going to mention the company name here - but just go up the food chain a little bit.

Why would you not mention the company?

I have no idea what you mean by "go up the food chain a little bit".

Seriously I have been searching google but can't seem to find one cheaper.

I was thinking maybe of even using MagicJack for this.

if you set up separate Gmail accounts, you get get a Google Voice number for each one with FREE DIDs, forwarding, Voicemail, etc.

Trick is you cannot forward them all to the same number. So if your goal was to send all the DIDs to your one line...that won't work.
But if you are just looking to have a number. Free perfect solution.

    simple

your dealing with retailers + markup

if your buying alot of these just move up to the wholesale level

If I can search Google and buy these for 25 cents so can you.

    thanks

If you can setup Asterisk, you can terminate all your Google Voice numbers there and do what you want with them.

Lesnet provides low cost DIDs as well.

Here is one you can try... they are 9.95 for first number and then drop to $3.95 for each number after that.

    Code:
    www.vumber.com

    AGAIN thanks for not helping.

Why can't you name the company or give SOME clue as to what search terms you are using?

Seriously, If you don't want to help then why even bother replying?

This sounds like the solution, but how do I use this to verify the G#?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Hey OP, I'm in the exact same boat right now.... setting up multiple businesses and the ONLY thing holding me back is the phone ## issue.

    Let's keep each other posted.

Today I purchased an "800" (888 actually) to setup, thinking it would be great (and probably normal) for many businesses to setup and have the same 800 number. Well, then you must verify by postcard.

    So that doesn't work.

Google Voice is currently only letting you forward 2 accounts per phone number, so once you use your own real number to verify 2 separate gvoice accounts then you are stuck. Unless you can get a second line and shuffle them over, but again you end up eventually stuck.

I really need to find a cheap and working solution, and I think it's out there.

P.S. How's the Google Map/Places method working for you? It's getting me on page 1 for stuff I never dreamed of!!! Can't wait to go national and start making some serious $$$. Please help BHW!!

    Update!!

I've seems to me that google has switched up their policy/reaction to setting up multiple voice accounts with the same forwarding line. But today we had some time where we could use our real ph# (already linked to 2 gVoice numbers/account) for a THIRD account, but then it would pull from one of the first 2, which is ok for our use. Don't really need the number to work, just need it to verify the place listing....and this doesn't seem to flag the listing, but using our new 888 number did flag it for postcard verify.

Also, I think yahoo offers ph #'s the same as google, but I haven't tried.

I found this too, but haven't tried yet. phonebooth dat cam and there is a link for a free version for business. I think it's only 1 number, but MAYBE we can get it to work as 1 PER business, as long as we are 1 existing business ahead of the curve....get it?

Hope this helps!! I love this forum and am excited to have my first paying method/results soon!! :D
