Does anyone here have offshore bank accounts? Is it possible to open an offshore account without visiting the bank? Just curious to know.

Try Payoneer. You can get USD, GBP and Euro Bank accounts without leaving your country. And it works in countries like India, too.

As far as I know some Hong Kong banks accept new customers based on a Skype interview :)

Isn't Payoneer just a payment system like PayPal?

If you currently bank with a major reputable bank, then they should have an offshore banking team, (International banking account) that could perhaps advise you, as their HNW clients dilute political and economic risk and protect their liquid assets, in case their domiciled country gets fecked up! Which is what I'd assume you're looking to achieve, right?

I know for a fact Barclays Bank has an offshore team.

If it's for tax planning purposes, then entirely different ballgame...

I opened one (offshore ) in Montenegero just visiting the embassy in my country to confirm my signature.

It used to be. Now it is providing bank accounts to receive money. And it automatically transfers out the money received to your local bank account.
How is that !!?
EDIT: it's not supported for all countries, is it ?

It is for India, where you can't keep your money offshore and you can't spend your earned money before bringing it into the country first. Paypal India also auto-transfers the received funds to local banks.

But for Payoneer, if they offer offshore accounts for Indians, they must be offering it for the most of the countries.

Do they send info about you to IRS if you reach certain amount of money? Would IRS just ignore that if you are not from US?

You can easely open an offshore account for instant in Mauritius, Cyprus, Belize and Latvia without to visit the bank. You just need to have all required documents available i.e. passport copy and utility bill must be notarized.

I'm currently living in Mauritius and yes you can open an offshore account here.
