Does anyone have experience buying an IG account with 15-20K followers? What to check?

I'm thinking of buying an IG account with approx. 20K followers. Bad idea?
What are the scams? Are all the accounts on sale from 3rd world countries?
What do you get in exchange for your money? You get credentials, and then you change the password and the phone number?
Thanks for your advice

You`ll need to check how they were created (mail - a few are very high risk, phone number), manual, automated, when were created, and what were they used for. It`s very hard to really verify these accounts. I got clients who bought clean-advertized accounts, that got banned soon after starting working on it.
The warranty, as they say, is very small - a week or so and it doesn`t help you much as usualy all the problems start after the warming period.
If you`re not in a hurry, I recommend starting from scratch and growing yourself one - that is the only way you know it`s clean. Even so, you can get some blocks from ig, but at least you know what actions were made or not.

I grow and have been selling IG account for a very long time.

Most times, its safer to get accounts that have been created for at least 6 months, the probability of getting it deleted is lower.

You also want to confirm how many strikes or post have been deleted, especially in the hot girls niche that I am. The more an account habe had post deleted, the more risky the account is to be disabled. I think, at 10-12 deleted posts, the account will be permanently disabled.

After buying an account, change the password and email and do not change all the other details straight away, also do not mass remove posts straight away. I encourage buyers to wait for at least 2 weeks to start any action on it after logging in aside changing password email.

The moment you get the account on your hands after you pay (never pay with crypto and non-refundable methods, always use escrow or PayPal business), you change passwords and enable 2FA.

As for the account, you only take a look at the engagement rate. Everything else is bullshit. If the account has a high engagement rate and not spammy content, everything looks professional, it'll most likely be fine. No need to go crazy on your research.

Avoid changing profile details directly after purchasing, this is not confirmed as "sus" but it's good practice to stay safe. Don't change usernames, names, bios, anything for a while, let the account rest for a week or two.

That's all.

Thanks.
That could be a roadblock since the kind of account I want to buy isn't from guy who grow accounts as a business, but regular joes who probably will have used their personal email.

Thing is, I want to use the account to do S4S with similar accounts, so I need the followers.
My theme is photo-based, not video, so I think it would take a huge amount of time to grow 20K followers. Not even sure it's possible now given what I hear about the new IG...

Just a tip I don't think many people know, as soon as you get te account, make sure you unlink it from Facebook, twitter or any other social platforms it's linked to if it is.. because they can get the account back that way

Do the transaction through a good secured escrow service like Swapd

its possible that once they sell to you they will try recovering it sop they can resell it again.

Even if I have the original email?
As I said I wouldn't be buying from pro account growers, so I hope I can avoid this.
I would be so pissed off...

poeple have unique methoids of recovery. your best bet at understanding is trying to recover one of you own instagram accounts without access to the backup email or password and check the whole process out. if there is a waiting period make sure to include it in your deal. dont forget to check if they can recover the backup emaiul too. each email service has its own recovery methods.
